Environmental Education

Encounter the perfect outdoor classroom within our ecologically rich and diverse 250-acre forest. Lessons are aligned with Kentucky Core Content for Assessment /Common Core Standards. We specialize in school group programs but also have the ability to plan for any group or organization.

Educational field trips, environmental field days, and professional development opportunities may also be made available for your group. Environmental education staff will assist your group with programming as well as logistics. When possible, we are also able to bring in professionals to present on various topics in addition to our environmental education staff.

Lessons

Themes include soils, water, gardening, forestry, wildlife, geology, and many more.

Garden

Our teaching garden is an impressive 148 feet long and 48 feet wide. This great expanse of area allows for several different garden display areas include a vegetable garden, herb garden, native Kentucky plantings, and more. We also have a home composting demonstration station and planting table available for use.

Seasonal Education Opportunities
Spring Science Review

Let us engage, educate, and empower your classroom with a customized science review. You choose the topics based on your curriculum. Topics include water cycle, weather, fossils, soils/erosion, forestry, habitats, food chains, wildlife, and more.

Corn Maze

Each September-October, during our corn maze season, Environmental Education offers lessons specifically designed to complement your corn maze experience.

Reindeer

Educational programming with our two reindeer, Avalanche and Snowshoe, is available year round. Discover their extraordinary arctic adaptations including antlers, hooves, and more in a truly unique educational experience. Explore their connection to your life in Kentucky.
