570 Milner Rd. Versailles, KY 40383

Dearest Friends,

Please know that our thoughts and hearts go out to you  during these uncertain times. We hope that you and your family are doing well and staying healthy. Please know the health and safety of the public, our participants and our staff remains our top priority. We remain in close contact with our own healthcare consultant [an experienced and knowledgeable nurse practitioner (DNP, APRN) at the University of Kentucky], public health officials, the American Camp Association as well as other regional and national groups for guidance. Furthermore, we closely monitor and will continue to abide by Governor Beshear's as well as other officials' recommendations.

  • Groups Rescheduled: All groups, retreats, facility rentals and camps through April have been rescheduled or cancelled.
  • May 1 Announcement re: Summer: Consulting with health officials as well all stake-holders involved, we'll make a decision and announcement about further needs to reschedule/cancel summer activities and camps by May 1, at the latest.
  • Offices Closed: Our physical offices closed earlier this month and will remain closed until further notice. We quickly created a "virtual office" by which most of our staff now work from home. Our phones forward to and will be answered by our registrar Kat Miller during business hours. In addition, our program staff can and will promptly respond to any inquiries. So please reach out with any questions or concerns you might have.
  • Staff Working Remotely: A skeletal and isolated crew of facilities and equine staff remain on property.  Almost 1000 acres still need to be maintained, horses still need care and on-site projects still need attention. Our staff are also using this time for remote professional development, as we continue to refine and enhance our programming. We know that the work we do will be more needed than ever after this crisis has passed—both for our partner organizations serving trauma affected clients as well as schools and even corporate teams! As individuals, teams and groups navigate their "new normal," Life Adventure Center stands ready to build trauma recovery, communication, teamwork, and leadership. We are in contact with all of our partner organizations - rapidly developing virtual modalities to still support our clients during this period - creativitely offering virtual resilience building and self-regulation experiences. We've also developed content as a public service - offering tips to build your resilience and mindfullness - important tools to help you face the challenges ahead. Please follow and like us at www.facebook.com/LifeAdventureCenter.
  • Trails Remain Open: One of the benefits of the Life Adventure Center property, and our sister property at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary, are the trails that help our neighbors get outside at a time when they need it more than ever. To that end, we expanded access to our trails at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary (located at 1305 Germany Road, in Frankfort) to seven days a week. We also opened the equine trails at our main facility (located at 580 Milner Road, in Versailles) to both equine and pedestrian traffic for a limited time. Our mountain bike trails remain open to off-road cyclists (though for safety we advise there should be no pedestrians on these trails).
  • Labyrinth Open to the Public: Finally, we opened up our meditative labyrinth (pictured above and located at our main facility - 580 Milner Road, Versailes) for public use. Be sure to check out our interpretive displays (at the entrance to the walk) to learn how this powerful tool has been used since ancient times to center your mind, calm your body, and build resilience.
  • Please Adhere to Social Distance protocals to ensure your safety and to help us keep these resources open!

We deeply appreciate the trust you place in Life Adventure Center. Our mission revolves around building resilience for each life we have the privilege of influencing. Through those lives, we hope to build a more resilient world. We hope you join us by building resilience for our community during these challenging times. Please feel free to contact me personally at tim@lifeadventurecenter.org or 859-873-3271 with any questions, concerns and to let us know how we might be of service.

My wise father often comforted me with this ancient wisdom: "this too shall pass."

My friends, I offer you my father's echo... this too shall pass.  While unfortunately separated by safe, social distance, please know we still see you and we are still with you. We hope to be with you in person again soon.

Until then, thank you and stay healthy!
