PLEASE NOTE: Now that we resumed programming with groups, our Equestrian trails have rerveted to horseback use only. Hikers without equine companions are encouraged to use our beautiful, pedestrian trails at Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary (1305 Germany Road- Frankfort, KY 40601) - see the "Buckley Nature Trails" link, under the "Trails" tab, above, for more information.
For our horseback friends:
- Follow your GPS to 580 Milner Road, Versailles KY 40383. Entering through our "Challenge Course" gate and following the road for approximately a mile, you'll find our trailhead and ample parking.
- Check in at the kiosk for maps to approximately 3 miles of trails open to public and enjoyment by both equestrians and pedestrians.
- Please be sure to read and adhere to additional rules posted at our kiosk.
- We ask for a small donation of $10 per trailer or car to help us maintain and keep these scenic trails open to the public. Please also explore our website for our separate mountain bike trail system as well as additional pedestrian trails offered at the Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary.
Our equine trails follow an easy loop around crop fields, over two small water crossings and out through our spectacular forrest (Woodford County's largest contiguous woodland area!). PLEASE NOTE: our trails are NOT regularly patrolled or monitored. Please wear a helmet and appropriate safety gear if riding. Please walk or ride responsibly, do not walk or ride alone and notify someone of where you are, when you are expected to return and to contact authorities if you do not return by that time. USE OUR TRAILS AT YOUR OWN RISK! Enjoy and have a safe ride!
